License FAQ
I purchased a license for a version of the SDK, how do I register it for use?
After completing the purchase process, we will provide you with a link to a customer download page where a fully functional, non-trial version can be downloaded. Enter the license code located on your invoice into the LicenseCode property of the SDK’s engine object. Full functionality will be restored and the 'nag' screen will disappear. Most evaluation versions cannot be activated for security reasons. The secure download page can only be accessed via a Login ID and Password provided by Numedia Soft. Existing customers without a Login ID and Password should contact support.
Do I need to pay royalties for using the SDK?
No. We only require a license fee (per developer seat) for the use of our development tools. There are no royalties associated with deploying our SDK’s components with your application. We do not charge run-time license fees for embedded application deployments, but you must have the correct license type (Professional or Commercial) to match your needs.
Do you include or sell source code with your SDK or components?
No. We do not release source code for any of our development tools under normal circumstances. Contact us if your requirements dictate the need for our source code. Additional fees will apply.
What are the upgrade and support policies for your SDK?
Basic technical support and product updates (patches, bug-fixes, etc.) are provided at no charge for the first year. This does not include product version upgrades beyond 90 days or priority technical support. We highly recommend purchasing the optional Software Assurance Subscription with your license. This subscription provides high-priority support, product version upgrades, and any updates (patches, bug-fixes, etc.) for the term of the subscription. Customers who choose to not purchase this subscription will be subject to 80% of the full retail license fees for any subsequent product version upgrades after our initial 90 day upgrade period. The Software Assurance Subscription can only be purchased at the time of the initial license purchase.
PLEASE NOTE: As of 10/09/2009...
'Software Assurance Subscriptions'
are included with ALL Licenses!
Do I need to purchase the Software Assurance Subscription when I purchase my License(s)?
No, but we recommend it because you cannot purchase it at a later date. Please read the details of the Software Assurance Subscription.
Do you offer a competitive upgrade?
Yes. We recognize that many of our potential customers may have tried another product which may have not met quality expectations. If you have licensed a burning/recording SDK or component from a recognized competitor, you may qualify for a competitive upgrade discount. Please contact us with your proof of purchase, the type/number of license(s) you require, and the version of the SDK you wish to obtain.
Do you offer special upgrade pricing for current customers?
Our policy now requires that our customers must have a Software Assurance Subscription to get upgrades at no cost. Customers without this subscription will be subject to 80% of the full retail license fees for product version upgrades. As a service to our current customers, we are offering a one-time, transitional upgrade discount for certain products. Any approved transitional upgrades will be subject to our new policy regarding upgrades and support. Contact us for details.
